How to perform a fresh install of the Desktop Uploader Tool?

The following steps will go over how to install the latest version of the Desktop Uploader Tool on your device.

Windows

Step 1: Uninstall all older versions of the Desktop Uploader tool installed on your device

Step 2: Install the latest version of the MediaValet Desktop Uploader Tool

  • Retrieve the latest Desktop Uploader installation file from your MediaValet representative.

  • Extract the contents of the Zip File containing the Desktop Uploader program, right-click on the MSI program and select "Install" from the drop-down menu that appears:


    • If the Windows protected your PC pop-up appears, select "Run anyway"


  • Click "Next" from the pop-up that appears and walk through the installer's steps. Click "Finish" to complete the installation

 

Step 3: Run the Desktop Uploader Tool

  • Once the program has been installed, you should see an icon your desktop created for the MediaValet Desktop Tool

  • Right-click on the application and select "Run as administrator". Select Yes from the pop-up that appears.

  • The Desktop Tool will no open. Click the Authenticate To MediaValet button.
  • From the pop-up that appears, input your username. This will then find the correct library your user account is located in. 
  • Proceed to sign-in as you typically would using the same credentials set up for your MediaValet when being accessed from a browser session.
    • If you typically use Single-Sign-On to login to the library, please use your SSO credentials. 


  • Once you are successfully authenticated and authorized, you should see a Retrieving Categories and then a Retrieving Assets message appear. This should resolve once your library's contents have been loaded. 

 

MacOSX

Step 1: Uninstall all older versions of the Desktop Uploader tool installed on your device

 

Step 2: Install and run the latest version of the MediaValet Desktop Uploader Tool

  • Retrieve the latest Desktop Uploader installation file from your Onboarding/Customer Success Manager

  • Extract the contents of the Zip File containing the Desktop Uploader program and double click on the DMG file that is extracted. This should open a pop-up window with the MediaValet Desktop Tool program.


  • While holding CTRL on the keyboard, right-click on the program file and select Open. Select Open again from the prompt that appears.


  • This will launch the Desktop Uploader Tool login screen. Select the Authenticate to MediaValet button.


  • From the pop-up that appears, input your username. This will then find the correct library your user account is located in. 

  • Proceed to sign-in as you typically would using the same credentials set up for your MediaValet when being accessed from a browser session.
    • If you typically use Single-Sign-On to login to the library, please use your SSO credentials. 

  • Once you are successfully authenticated and authorized, you should see a Retrieving Categories and then a Retrieving Assets message appear. This should resolve once your library's contents have been loaded.
