Overview
The Metadata Export / Import feature makes it easy to manage metadata at scale.
Admins can export metadata for a set of assets into a spreadsheet (.csv), make updates offline, and then re-import those changes back into MediaValet, saving time and ensuring metadata accuracy across large libraries.
Who Can Use Metadata Export / Import
Administrators and Library Administrators with the Manage Metadata permission.
Other user roles will not see the export/import option.

How to Import Metadata
Best practice to import a csv file is to use an exported file as a template. You can download a previous version of a csv from the Export History tab.
Go to your Library
From the left-hand sidebar, click Metadata Export/Import.Select file to Import: select your csv file and click Validate
Review the import Metadata information and click Import
When the import is complete, you will receive a notification that the file import is complete. The notification is located in the bottom left corner of your space.
Note:
If you're importing multiple values for a multiselect attribute, make sure that each value is separated by a pipe character
|example: value1|value2|value3After an import, it’s always a good practice to spot check some of the asset metadata to verify if the imported updates applied as intended
If you're importing list values, please make sure these values already exist for the attribute as the tool is not able to create attribute list values
Don't use any parenthesis in the Attribute Name as it will cause the import to fail. Please rename your attribute on the attribute management page before prior to importing the metadata.
The Export History tab
After export, you can check the Export History tab to view details such as:
Who performed the export
Date and time
Number of assets updated
Number of attributes
File Name, File Size
Status (Success / Error)
...and actions to download & delete
