What is Reverse Image Search?

Reverse Image Search lets you use an image instead of keywords: upload a reference image and instantly surface the same or visually similar assets already in your MediaValet library. It’s perfect for confirming whether an image already exists, finding a higher-resolution or licensed version, or locating related shots from the same product or shoot.

Have an image on your website with a less than helpful name like DSC_0012.JPG and want to locate it in your library? Just drag and drop it from the wbesite into the search and poof like magic you'll be brought to the image

What's it used for?

  • Stop duplicate spend: before buying stock, re-licensing, or putting in a request, check if a same/similar asset already exists.

  • Move faster without perfect keywords: let the image itself do the searching

  • Governance & reuse: keep teams on brand by rediscovering approved, rights-cleared assets.

FAQs

  1. Will the system find exact duplicates?
It aims to detect exact and near-exact matches; it is important to still, verify file metadata (dimensions, hash/size) on the asset page before deleting.

  2. Can I restrict results to a category or campaign?
Yes, run the image query, then apply filters to narrow your results.

  3. Does this work across the whole library?
Yes, results draw from assets you’re permitted to access.

  4. Does this replace keyword/metadata search?
No, it complements it, we use image search when you don’t know the right terms, then apply filters to refine.

  5. Is this permission-aware?
Yes, results only include assets you’re allowed to access.

  6. Is there any known limitations?
Yes there is currently a limitation when searching with local assets that are over 20MB
