In this article, you will learn how to find and reopen the assets, categories, collections, and searches you've recently viewed in MediaValet.
Recently Viewed is a panel that opens when you click into the search bar. It shows your last five searches, along with the last five assets, categories, and collections you've viewed, so you can jump back to them without rebuilding a search from scratch.
When to Use It
Recently Viewed saves you a few clicks whenever you need to return to something you were just working with:
- Re-running a search you typed a few minutes ago, without retyping it.
- Reopening an asset you were reviewing before you navigated away.
- Jumping back into a category you were browsing.
- Returning to a collection you were building, if your account can add items to collections.
The Tabs
The panel is organized into tabs. Each shows a maximum of five items:
- All — A combined view of your most recent searches, assets, categories, and collections, with up to five items per type. This is the default tab.
- Searches — Your five most recent search terms. Click the X next to a term to remove it.
- Assets — Your five most recently viewed assets, shown with a thumbnail, title, and how long ago you viewed them.
- Categories — Your five most recently viewed categories, with name and view time.
- Collections — Your five most recently viewed collections, with name and view time. This tab only appears if your account has permission to add assets to collections.
Selecting any item in the panel takes you straight to it. Once you have more than five items of a given type, the oldest one drops off the list as a new one is added.
How the Panel Opens and Closes
The panel opens when you click into the search bar, or when you reach it by pressing Tab on your keyboard. It closes as soon as you start typing, press Escape, click elsewhere on the page, or navigate to a different page. Clearing the search bar reopens it.
Note: Recently Viewed is available on desktop only — it does not appear on mobile or tablet. It's also stored locally in your browser, not on MediaValet's servers. Clearing your browser cache or site data will clear your recent items, and they won't carry over if you sign in from a different browser or computer.
