In this article, you will learn how to install MediaValet's new Microsoft 365 connector for Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and how to identify it in your add-in ribbon.
What's new in the updated connector:
- Excel is now supported. The previous (legacy) connector supported Word and PowerPoint only.
- Assets insert at Large resolution by default (previously Medium in the legacy connector), for higher image quality in your documents.
- Alt text now carries over automatically with each inserted asset.
- Works in both the web and desktop versions of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Before you begin
Confirm the following with your MediaValet representative:
- The Microsoft Office 365 integration is enabled for your MediaValet library
NOTE
You'll need a Microsoft 365 admin account to install the MediaValet for Office app for your organization/users. You may require a representative on your IT team for support.
Step 1: Install the connector in the Microsoft Admin Center
- Log in to the Microsoft Admin Center
- Follow the following instructions to install our “MediaValet for Office” connector
NOTE
Changes in the Microsoft Admin Center may take up to 24 hours for all add-in deployment/removal to reflect for all users.
Step 2: Removing the connector in the Microsoft Admin Center
If your organization is currently using the legacy connector, please follow the instructions to remove the add-in from the admin center.
Step 4: Assigning Integration Licenses
Once you have installed the MediaValet for Office app, you can now assign integration licenses to your users. This is easy to do through the Settings menu of your MediaValet library.
Simply follow the steps in this article.
Step 5: Let your team know!
Once you have the new connector installed in your Microsoft Admin Center, the new connector will appear in your users’s add-in ribbon. All they have to do is click on the connector and sign-in to MediaValet!

Step 6: (Optional): Removing the legacy MediaValet connector
Even after removing the legacy connector in the Admin Center, there may be rare cases where you or your users see both connectors in the app ribbon. This is likely because you or your users manually installed the connector individually at some point.
To remove the legacy MediaValet connector, follow the following steps:
- Go to your add-ins and click Manage
2. Locate the legacy MediaValet connector and delete, “MediaValet”
What happens if I do not remove the legacy connector?
You do not need to remove the legacy connector for the new one to work — both can run side by side. Once you're comfortable with the new connector, it is recommended to remove the legacy connector as it will no longer be supported or updated.
