MediaValet offers various ways to share assets, each designed for a specific purpose. From publishing content to your website to sending a batch of files to an external vendor. Understanding the difference helps you share confidently and get content to the right people in the right way.
The five sharing methods
CDN Link
A CDN (Content Delivery Network) link publishes an asset directly from MediaValet to a digital destination — a website, CMS, email campaign, landing page, or partner portal. Rather than exporting and uploading a file manually, the asset is served via a fast, globally distributed network. When the asset is updated in MediaValet, the change reflects everywhere the link is used automatically.
CDN links also support dynamic asset transformations, meaning images and videos can be resized, cropped, and optimised on the fly without creating separate versions in your library.
This method is best suited for external publishing scenarios where content needs to be always current and available at scale.
Note: CDN must be enabled in your library. Contact your administrator if you do not see this option.
Asset Link
An asset link is the direct URL for a single asset in MediaValet. It is intended for sharing internally — that is, with other MediaValet users. Because it requires a MediaValet account to access, it is not appropriate for sharing with external recipients.
Asset links are only available when sharing one asset. If you need to share multiple assets internally, a Collection is the recommended approach.
Collection
A collection is a group of assets that can be shared with other MediaValet users. Think of it as a curated playlist — the assets stay in their original locations in the library; the collection simply organises links to them in one place. Collections support collaboration, making it easy for teams to reference, review, and work from the same set of assets.
Collections are an internal sharing tool. They are accessible only to MediaValet users within your organisation.
Web Gallery
A web gallery generates a shareable link that opens a visually organized gallery of assets in any browser. It is designed for sharing with external recipients — agency partners, clients, vendors, or anyone outside your MediaValet environment. No account or login is required to view a web gallery.
When you need to present a selection of assets to someone outside your organisation, a web gallery is the appropriate choice.
Note: A web gallery is a snapshot of the assets selected at the time it was created. Any updates made to a collection after the gallery is shared will not be reflected in the web gallery.
Zip File
A zip file bundles selected assets into a downloadable archive. Once downloaded, the files are available offline and can be distributed or stored independently of MediaValet.
A zip file is a static snapshot — it reflects the versions of the assets at the time of download. Unlike a CDN link, it does not stay current with updates made in the library after the file was created. Zip files are useful for bulk distribution when recipients need the files in hand, without an ongoing connection to the DAM.
Quick reference
| Sharing method | Single asset | Multiple assets | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|

CDN Link (External) |
✓ | — | Publishing assets to websites, CMS, email campaigns, landing pages, and external portals | Requires CDN feature enabled in the library. Supports dynamic transformations. |
| Asset Link (Internal) | ✓ | — | Quickly sharing the direct URL of a single asset with another MediaValet user | MediaValet users only. For multiple assets, use a Collection instead. |
| Collection (Internal) | ✓ | ✓ | Grouping and sharing multiple assets with other MediaValet users for internal collaboration | MediaValet users only. Supports ongoing collaboration and organization. |
| Web Gallery (External) | ✓ | ✓ | Sharing assets with external users via a visually organized, browser-accessible gallery link | Accessible via a web link — no MediaValet account required. However, any updates made to a collection after the gallery is shared will not be reflected in the web gallery. |
| Zip File | ✓ | ✓ | Bulk downloading assets for offline use or distribution | Downloaded as a .zip archive. A static snapshot — does not update when assets change in the library. |
